A 22-year-old woman was struck and killed in a fatal Vancouver pedestrian accident. The young woman was walking on a recent Tuesday when the fatal incident occurred. According to authorities, the collision happened at approximately 1:30 p.m. The force of the crash caused one car to go flying into a telephone pole, when it hit the pedestrian and threw her a substantial distance. Five other people also suffered injury from the crash. Everyone, including the fatally injured woman, was transported to hospital. The other vehicle in the collision came to a rest after crashing into a bus stop. Fortunately, the bus stop was empty of people at the time. Police do not suspect that either of the vehicles were racing. However, the exact cause of the collision is still unknown. One police sergeant described the crash site, which spread across three quarters of the block, as quite horrific. When a pedestrian accident happens and police investigators are unable to determine who was at fault and who might be liable for the collision, it may be necessary for the injured persons, their families and their respective attorneys to carry out their own independent investigations of what occurred. By interviewing witnesses, employing car accident reconstruction experts, and trying to pull surveillance video footage, a lot can be done to establish a sound theory of fault and liability with regard to a particular pedestrian accident crash. After this kind of evidence has been gathered, it could be used to support claims for damages against the at-fault party or parties in a wrongful death action related to the incident.
